Thinking about another venture....
I've have an idea to open a local retail business in the town that I live in. I'm finding in just the ground floor stages how difficult it is for businesses to start up.
The Washington State liquor board requires a tavern license even if you don't sell or serve alcohol just to allow a person to drink a glass of wine from a bottle they brought in to a closed door session.
Next, with all the of the commercial buildings that are empty it seems to me that landlords could rent/lease a lot more buildings if they didn't require 5 year leases. That's like marrying someone on a first date. The very first leasing company I called was condescending and told me that the rent would be prohibitive to my concept. We'll keep plugging along though. Right now we're about 3 on a scale of 10. Lot's more research to do!
